ShareGift Many of you may not have heard of ShareGift, so we thought we'd share a little about them. If you have shares which are uneconomical to sell, you may wish to consider donating them to ShareGift, the share donation charity. ShareGift is an independent UK registered charity (No. 1052686) which specialises in releasing the money locked up in small shareholdings (but they can accept donations of any size). ShareGift works by collecting together small lots of shares until there are enough to sell and then donating the resulting proceeds to a wide range of charities. To date ShareGift has donated over £37 million to more than 3,100 charities; one of which has been us!. ShareGift make their grants based upon suggestions from donors so we'd like to say a massive "thank you" to the individuals who have done this and shown their love of all things wild in Scilly in the process; we have already received £5,500! You can help support the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust by donating any small shareholdings you may have to ShareGift, and mentioning that you support us. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can claim income tax relief on the value of most stocks and securities when you donate them to a charity. In addition, donating shares charitably gives rise to neither a gain nor a loss for Capital Gains Tax (CGT) purposes. Ideas for running your own fundraising activity could include a plant sale, bake sale, sponsored walk/run, sponsored silence, opening your garden and selling cream teas, and the list goes on. You can also set up your own fundraising page on our website or if you prefer to fundraise through Just Giving, we also have our own Just Giving page. Donate through Payroll Giving Payroll Giving is a way of giving money to charity without having to pay tax on it. It must be paid through PAYE from your wages or pension. It allows you to provide charities with a regular income, to allow them to plan and budget for the future. If you would like to donate to Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust through your wage or pension please speak to your HR Manager, or your accountant if you own a business, and they will be able to set this up for you. If you shop online, please help make a contribution to the Trust by signing up with organisations such as Easy Fundraising and Amazon Smile. When you use Easy Fundraising to shop with any of their 3,600 listed retailers, the retailer makes a small donation to say thank you; Easy Fundraising then send those free funds to your chosen cause (which will hopefully be the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust!).
