Steve was elected to the Board by Members at our 2006 AGM and is one of our On-Island Trustees.

After leaving Agricultural College, Steve joined the State Veterinary Service (SVS) in Gloucester as a member of their Technical staff. Then followed 36 years with that Service, first within MAFF and eventually with DEFRA, during which time his work took him to Scotland, Wales and all over England.

At times Steve got involved with different projects for the SVS, heading a short term unit preparing for the commencement of Cattle Passports, being second in command of the unit developing the Date Based Export Scheme (which allowed the re introduction of beef exports after the BSE crisis) and latterly as Deputy Director of the Gloucester Foot & Mouth Centre. He retired in late 2004.

Soon after Steve and wife Pam moved to Scilly to a two acre smallholding where they keep a selection of animals including goats and chickens.

Steve is proud to be able to play a small but active part in preserving, maintaining and improving the natural habitat of the Islands.

Steve was elected to the post of Vice-Chair at the AGM in September 2016, stood down as Vice-Chair at the AGM in October 2019, but remains a Trustee.
